'Explaining self-determination groups' violent and non-violent strategies of resistance'.

My PhD project focuses on how the strategies of secessionist groups and movements vary and seeks to uncover what factors drive these variations.

  • Non-state actor behaviours and dynamics, particularly interactions with the state.
  • Secessionism and secessionist tactics.
  • Civil conflict and political violence.
  • Non-violent strategies of resistance, and their interaction with political violence.
