We are reimagining and prioritising professional support, student empowerment, and community connection in your halls. Here’s what you can expect!
Reimagining Life in Halls: Big Changes Coming to UofG Residences!
Settling into halls can be a bit of a whirlwind with a new city, new people, and adjusting to uni life. That’s why we are improving your experience and ensuring you feel supported in halls with our new project Residential Life Reimagined.
We are listening!
In response to your feedback and our data, we realised the old system wasn’t meeting your needs, supporting mental health, tackling loneliness, and building a real sense of community.
So, we are reimagining and prioritising professional support, student empowerment, and community connection in your halls. Here’s what you can expect:
- New specialist teams: Say hello to the Health & Welfare, Social Responsibility, and Events teams, made up of trained professionals who will be there to support you, including out of hours.
- More student-led events: Become an Event or Community Volunteer within your hall to help shape events, campaigns and community building whilst building on your own confidence and skillset! Or come along to activities hosted by your fellow residents and supported by dedicated staff team members - student led for student benefit!
- Letting you focus on the good stuff: With professionals handling the heavier stuff, student volunteers can focus on what they do best by being friendly faces and peer supporters.
- Social Responsibility initiatives: We hear your concerns about wanting to make sustainable and responsible choices but don’t know where to start. The introduction of the Social Responsibility team gives an opportunity to get involved with campus, local, and global communities and initiatives.
With over 6000 students now living in UofG accommodation we want to:
- Make support more consistent across all types of accommodation
- Help students feel more connected and less isolated
- Give you more chances to get involved, learn new skills, and have fun
- Improve safety and wellbeing for everyone in halls
And even if you don’t live in a hall but you have one close to your private digs, you can always pop in for support or to join in the fun!
