How will my degree develop it?
Effective communication is a vital skill that enables you to exchange information with others. By being an effective communicator, you will be able to convey a message while also listening to your conversational partner to understand the full meaning of what’s being said. Communicating clearly requires learning; however, if done correctly, this skill will be a great help in your future career as the majority of workplaces will require you to work in teams where effective communication is essential.
Communicating with others can take various forms, such as adapting your communication style to formal and informal situations or actively listening to understand others. Effective communication also includes negating, presenting, pitching ideas, the ability to ask questions, read and project positive open body language, and persuading. This skill can also involve handling conflicts, showing empathy, and dealing with sensitive situations. Interaction with others is not restricted to in-person meetings but communication via telephone, emails, social media, or video calls.

Why is this attribute valuable to me?
Every job requires effective communication. Without it, no matter how good your ideas are, you will not be able to see them come to fruition, as you have to me able to sell them to colleagues in higher positions, and communicate effectively how you see them panning out.
