Biography

I joined Research and Innovation (R&I) in 2017 as Research Impact Officer. I worked as part of the team to deliver the University’s impact submission for REF2021 and I am now monitoring the University's impact pipeline in preparation for our submission to REF2027.

Prior to joining R&I, I researched molecular pathways of stress response in fruit flies and plants, receiving a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Glasgow. During my PhD, I enjoyed participating in public engagement with my research. The knowledge and experience of doing impact and engagement related activities as a researcher enables me to work with colleagues, embedding an understanding of impact and the benefits of engagement among researchers at different career stages.

I am passionate about the value of engagement and the importance of research with impact. I work closely with the Researcher Development and the central Knowledge Exchange teams on projects of embedding impact understanding. In collaboration with the Research Data Management team, I am co-developing the University’s Knowledge Exchange and Impact repository to help researchers record their knowledge exchange and impact activities.
