International Research Development
The Strategic Research Initiatives offers specialist bid development support to UofG researchers who are developing research proposals in collaborations with colleagues based in Low- and Middle- Income Countries (LMICs). Our International Research Development Manager is available to provide support on bid development, with particular emphasis on portions of the bid related to gender equality, equitable partnership, and ODA compliance. In recognition that North-South global partnerships are heavily impacted by structural inequalities, we can also provide advice about how to navigate some of the challenges specific to these types of partnerships.
Teams are advised to engage early in their concept development as many issues involving international collaboration can result when teams do not have discussions about particular elements early enough in the project development process. Many issues can be addressed and accommodated if teams are aware of them and can have productive conversations about how to navigate challenges.
Our team has co-developed guidance on equitable partnership and sustainable international collaboration. We particularly encourage colleagues new to working with international partners to review these resources.
