Development for Supervisors
Supervisor Training
All supervisors are required to undertake the supervisor foundation training - called Fundamentals of Postgraduate Supervision every five years (four years if supervising a PGR through the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences). It focuses on the practicalities of supervising PGRs in the University of Glasgow context. The course recognises the difficult and complex task of supervision, and aims to support you and your PGRs to have the best possible experience of supervision.
We also have an open access version for external supervisors of UofG PGRs (not on Moodle, so no end of course assessment)
Additionally, supervisors must complete Staff Research Integrity Training, which contains a dedicated section relating to research integrity within supervision.
The UofG PGR Supervisor Community of Practice
All doctoral supervisors at the University of Glasgow are invited to join the ‘PGR Supervisor Community of Practice’.
UofG Supervisor Workshop Series
Designed to support your development as a supervisor, centred on discussion and ideas from the community.
PGR Supervisor Buddying
