UofG Portals – What’s in a name?

Published: 6 May 2022

UofG staff and student portals are currently being redeveloped to deliver services and support

You may be aware that there is currently work underway to develop the UofG staff and student portals, to create a one-stop shop for news, information and services, and make navigating our internal resources easier.

Over coming months, the staff portal will be changing and becoming more integral to how we deliver services and support to all staff – read more about the Portal Project here.

As part of this development, we have been running consultation and engagement events to get the input of colleagues from across the organisation - thank you to everyone who took part in these. In the workshops we explored the ambitions around the portal development, had a look at some ‘competitor’ portals and brainstormed some approaches to the staff portal name. We also gained some great ideas in how to make the portal accessible, useful and engaging for all colleagues.

We now have a shortlist of names to consider, including MyGlasgow, our present portal name. It would be fantastic if you could spare a minute to vote on your favourite. Which name do you think accurately represents our vision? Vote now!

Did you know? You can now search for any UofG webpage directly from the staff portal using the handy search bar at the top right hand of the page?

UofG Life App – Add Your Student Events!

Remember, you can use the UofG Life App to share your student events, workshops, or get-togethers. The app provides an at-a-glance view on upcoming events this week, next week and in the future.

Get in touch with the app team for more information. Or, if you regularly organise student events, visit our webpage to find out how to get access to our Administrator Dashboard to organise and upload the events yourself!

UofG Life App

The UofG Life app team met in person for the first time in 2 years, for a long-awaited away day. There was lots on the agenda to cover, but of particular interest and excitement was a session hosted by expert Andy Irvine on defining our User Experience Principles. These will define not just what we include in the app, but how we do it – to provide an interaction that aligns with the University’s culture and principles. Watch out for our upcoming blog on the subject!
