The Principal video update for colleagues on return to campus and hybrid working

As outlined by the First Minister in her most recent update to Parliament, from this week more work from home restrictions are being relaxed, which means many colleagues who have been working remotely over recent months can begin to resume hybrid working.

We outlined the University’s broad approach to this in communications issued last week. In this edition of MyGlasgow News, the Principal updates all colleagues on our return to campus.

Last week, the national guidance on face coverings and physical distancing was updated and in this communications we would like to remind you about what this means across our campuses.

Update from the Principal

Face coverings

It is a legal requirement to wear face coverings in all of our indoor communal areas unless you, or the activity you are doing, are exempt from doing so. Communal areas are defined by the Scottish Government as areas where people mingle or gather, and examples include entrances, passageways, stairs, lifts, staff rooms, training rooms, meeting rooms, workstations, seminar rooms, lecture theatres and changing rooms.

Face coverings therefore must be worn in all learning and teaching environments, including classrooms and study spaces, our libraries and the James McCune Smith Learning Hub. Face coverings can be removed in certain situations, for example if you are teaching, presenting or working in an area, when seated in hospitality settings and for eating and drinking.

You may also remove face coverings when at working in an office, if you are separated from others by one metre or more or a partition.
