The University will host the three-day Global Sustainable Development Congress

On 31 October the University, in partnership with Times Higher Education (THE), will host the inaugural Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC).

The event will bring together a range of experts from across higher education, government and the private sector to explore how we work together to build a more sustainable future.

The Congress supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and will combine interactive masterclasses on important topics in healthcare, education, and sustainable cities with inspiring keynotes.

This year, the University of Glasgow placed 19th in the world in the first Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which measures performance against the 17 United Nations SDGs. We also placed second in the world for our contribution to SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Volunteering at the Congress

The three-day Congress is a major event for the University and the city, and we are currently seeking volunteers from our community to assist with its successful running.

Volunteering is open to both colleagues and students, with successful volunteers offered the opportunity to attend sessions, free of charge.

You can learn more and apply for a volunteer role on the THE: Global Sustainable Development Congress volunteer application form.
