Glasgow's MOOCS are supporting learners worldwide

Uptake in just over a month has been outstanding

On Monday, 23 March, 20 of Glasgow’s MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) were opened to learners across the globe, allowing them to gain access to high-quality content for free during these challenging times.

The uptake we have seen on these courses has been outstanding. In a little over a month, we have seen 50,000 learners from 182 countries (based on IP address) join our courses.

John Kerr, Learning Innovation Support Unit Manager, said: “I am very proud that we’ve managed to open these courses to help learners across the world during these testing times. The interest we’ve received in one month is phenomenal. Numbers continue to grow by the thousands per week and we are growing our offering, launching another two new courses commencing on 4 May. It is a testament to the work of colleagues who have constructed these courses which are being utilised as vital open educational content.”
