SMG salary sacrifice and parking permit charges rebate announced in online Q&A

Last week the University held a Zoom Q&A session to allow staff the opportunity to submit questions to a panel of University senior management about the COVID-19 response.

The event, which is now available to watch on Youtube, addressed a wide range of subjects, from furlough policy to health and wellbeing and the University’s financial position.

In the Q&A, the Principal announced that SMG members had volunteered to give part of their salaries to supporting the COVID-19 appeal and student hardship funds, with the Principal  personally sacrificing 20% of his salary.

In response to queries around the Car Parking Scheme, the University’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr David Duncan, also announced a rebate for parking permit holders, backdated to the beginning of April.

The session proved immensely popular, with over 250 questions submitted by staff. We are committed to answering each of these, and everyone who submitted a query should receive a response in due course.

As policy and guidance in this area emerges, we will aim to hold more Q&A sessions for our staff and students.

A session for researchers was held on Friday, this is available on the University’s Research pages via a link on the support for staff and postgraduates tile. The access password to this session is 4G&q952*

Two additional sessions will be held next week for researchers:
