The University's Chapel Choir is heading off on tour to Sweden.

The University's Chapel Choir is heading off on tour to Sweden.

The choir is made up of 32 singers of mixed voices, all of whom auditoned for the role. There is also a combination of volunteers, choral exhibitioners and professional Lay Clerks. In addition to the choral scholars and Lay Clerks, all members of the choir receive free singing tuition.

The choir is directed by Katy Lavinia Cooper and is accompanied by the University Organist, the renowned British recitalist Kevin Bowyer, and the University Organ Scholar, Adam Wilson. The main role of the Chapel Choir is to sing at services and recitals held in the University Chapel on some Sundays, and at 6pm every Tuesday during term time.

As well as singing in the University, the Chapel Choir makes regular radio broadcasts and performs at concerts, and has recorded several CDs. The Chapel Choir is engaged in concert work in and around Glasgow, and further afield.

Following the tour, the Choir will be back in action with these concerts:

Friday 17 June, 8.30pm Cottiers Chamber Project Concert, Cloisters - University of Glasgow
Tuesday 21 June 9.00 pm Requiem for Solstice - University Memorial Chapel
