The Scottish Universities Legal Academic Network on Europe (SULANE) held its inaugural meeting on Friday 8 July at the University of Glasgow.

The Scottish Universities Legal Academic Network on Europe (SULANE) held its inaugural meeting on Friday 8 July at the University of Glasgow. This is a joint initiative from Edinburgh School of Law and Europa Institute and Glasgow School of Law.

The network is to be co-chaired by Professors Jo Shaw (Edinburgh) and Noreen Burrows (Glasgow). The network's core membership will be legal academics from Scotland's Universities and expressions of interest have been received from 50 colleagues representing eight different Universities to date.

The creation of the network was prompted by the outcome of the referendum on the UK's membership of the EU held on 23 June. One of the main objectives of SULANE will be to provide legal expertise on Scotland's future position following 'Vote Leave'.
