DJ Party's record

The 2015 DJ's Christmas Party, organised by Derek Johnston from Estates and Buildings, raised a record sum for charity.

The University of Glasgow staff annual fixture known as DJ's Christmas Party goes from strength to strength.

Organised by Derek Johnston, a Maintenance Services Supervisor with Estates and Buildings, the event has been running for several years. A highlight of the party is always a guest appearance by 'stars of the 70s', together with a disco, karaoke, raffle and buffet. (Some of the stars of the 70s appear to bear an uncanny resemblance to Derek himself!)

This year the party raised an incredible £4310.00 - the biggest single amount raised from any of the parties in their four-year history. The 2015 look-alike stars included Showaddywaddy and the Bay City Rollers.

Our photo (left) shows Derek handing over the cheque to Carolyn Thornton, the Scottish Fundraising Manager for the event's main charity beneficiary, Make-A -Wish UK. DJ's Christmas Party is also supported by the Fergusson Bequest. (Right) Bay City Roll-ups?
