A full programme of support is on offer to help those taking VSER to transition from the University - LATEST

Everyone who has accepted VSER is being offered the opportunity to participate in a programme of support to facilitate their transition from the University of Glasgow. The programme is entirely optional, but one or more of the elements on offer may be helpful in preparing for the future.

The support available includes one-to-one meetings and website access to on-line seminars (webinars) and other on-line material provided by DBM, a leading outplacement and career support specialist.  Details of these are given below. A quiet area with computer access is also available in the Staff Development area, and the HR VS Project Team is available to provide further guidance and support.

The Programme of Support from DBM
DBM is a leading provider of outplacement and career transition services with experience in the education sector.  They will provide a range of assistance to employees including advice on career change, retirement and setting up a new business.

The DBM programme of support  includes a choice of two half day seminars which cover these areas:

  • preparation of CVs;
  • interviewing skills;
  • retirement success
  • starting your own business

Following these workshops you would have the option of a one-to-one session with a DBM consultant, to discuss your individual situation.

All workshops take place within University premises, with dates arranged subject to demand.

If you do not wish to attend any of the workshops, but you would be interested in a one-to-one session and/or the DBM website access, please contact the VS Project Team who will be happy to arrange this for you.

Please note that if you wish to attend CV writing or interview skills, it is advisable that you complete CV writing first followed by the interview skills workshop.  The CV writing workshop material complements the interview skills workshop.
