Learning & Teaching

The Keystone, our second-largest building on the Gilmorehill campus, is now halfway through construction. While there is still a lot of work to do before the building opens for teaching, learning and research in September 2028, the Estates team want to help colleagues stay informed as the project develops. With that in mind, they are opening the Keystone Hub SharePoint site to a wider University community and colleagues involved in learning and teaching.

Visit the site here. (UofG Login required)

On the site, you will find regular progress updates, including the latest drone footage, key project developments, and information from the various workstreams supporting the project. To get glimpse of how the building is taking shape, check out the latest September flyover video. Take a look and see the progress for yourself!

Two thirds of the Keystone will accommodate new teaching spaces, specifically:

  • 15 Collaborative teaching rooms in sizes from 42 – 156 students
  • 2 Lecture theatres each holding 280 students
  • 6 Computing labs in sizes from 36 – 225 students
  • 4 Superlabs (life sciences and engineering) each holding 240 students

This is a building for students from all our subjects, from from the STEM disciplines in CoSE and MVLS, to the subjects that sit within our Colleges of Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences. While the superlabs will enable teaching for Engineering and Life Sciences courses, the computing labs and other teaching spaces will be used by students from across all disciplines. The new teaching spaces will be similar to those in the James McCune Learning Hub, reflecting the demand we see for these types of spaces from both students and staff alike.
