Instructions for using printers on campus.

Wake up printer and log in

  1. If the printer's touchscreen is off, press the grey power button to wake it up.
  2. Swipe your Campus Card or Staff ID Card over the Pull Print sticker or card reader to log in.

Print a black and white document (mono)

  1. Print your document to the PULLPRINT queue.
  2. Go to any printer.
  3. If the printer's touchscreen is off, press the grey power button to wake it up.
  4. Swipe your Campus Card or Staff ID Card over the Pull Print sticker or card reader.
  5. Tap Pull Print.
  6. Tap your document name. 
  7. Tap Print.
  8. When you are finished, remember to tap Log out.

Printing tips

  • You can print mono documents on colour printers. 
  • (Students only)The estimated cost of printing is displayed on the screen so you can check this before you print
  • If a printer is not working, use a different printer to collect your job
  • If you want to print double-sided, or have the printer staple your document, set these options in the Finishing tab when you send your document to print

Pull Printing -mono


Print a colour document

  2. Go to any colour printer - these have a colour Pull Print sticker on them (there's one on every floor of the Library).
  3. If the printer's touchscreen is off, press the grey power button to wake it.
  4. Swipe your Campus Card or Staff ID Card over the Pull Print sticker or card reader. 
  5. Tap Pull Print.
  6. Tap your document name.
  7. Tap Print.
  8. When you are finished, remember to tap Log out.

Pull Printing -colour


Print a document with mono AND colour pages

  1. When printing your document, open Printer Properties.
  2. Go to the Quality tab.
  3. For Colour Mode choose Auto[Colour/B&W].
  4. Go to any colour printer - these have a colour Pull Print sticker on them (there's one on every floor of the Library).
  5. If the printer's touchscreen is off, press the grey power button to wake it up.
  6. Swipe your Campus Card or Staff ID Card over the Pull Print sticker or card reader.
  7. Tap Pull Print.
  8. Tap your document name.
  9. Tap Print.
  10. When you are finished, remember to tap Log out.

Please note: the estimated cost displayed will be for printing ALL pages in colour, but if you have followed instructions 1 to 3 above you will still be charged correctly, with only the colour pages charged at the colour price. Only students are charged directly for printing.

To get a more accurate estimated charge, print your colour pages and your mono pages separately.

If in doubt, use a mono printer. You can identify these by the black & white Pull Print sticker.

Pull Printing -colour


Check and update your pending print jobs

When you send a document to print, it will go to your list of 'pending print jobs'.

You then have up to 72 hours to collect it. After 72 hours the document will be deleted from your list. Printing a document automatically removes it from your list.

To check your list of pending print jobs, log in at My Printing and select Documents.

To remove a document you no longer want to print, select the document and click the Delete button at the top of the list.


Scan

  1. If the printer's touchscreen is off, press the grey power button to wake it up.
  2. Swipe your Campus Card or Staff ID Card over the Pull Print sticker or card reader.
  3. Tap Scan.
  4. Place your document either face-down on the glass or face-up on the document feeder.
  5. Tap Send to myself.
  6. Use the touchscreen to choose your scan settings including:
    • Black & white or colour
    • Single- or double-sided original
    • Lighten or darken the image
  7. Press the big green button to start scanning.
  8. If you have placed your document on the glass, you will prompted to confirm when you have placed the next page. Once you have scanned the final page, tap Start sending
  9. The printer will beep to confirm when the scan has sent.
  10. Collect your original from the glass or the document feeder.
  11. Remember to tap Log out when you are finished.
  12. Check your University email to pick up the scanned document.

Scanning in the Library

You can scan documents at printers on Level 3 and above of the Library.


Copy

  1. If the printer's touchscreen is off, press the grey power button to wake it up.
  2. Swipe your Campus Card or Staff ID Card over the Pull Print sticker or card reader.
  3. Tap Copy.
  4. Place your document either face-down on the glass or face-up in the document feeder.
  5. Use the touchscreen to choose your copy settings including:
    • Black & white or colour (only colour printers can copy in colour)
    • Single- or double-sided original
    • Single- or double-sided copy
    • Lighten or darken the image
  6. Use the numeric keys to choose how many copies you want to make.
  7. Press the big green button to start copying.
  8. Collect your copies from the output tray.
  9. Collect your original from the glass or the document feeder.
  10. Remember to tap Log out when you are finished.

Photocopying in the Library

You can use printers on Level 3 or above of the Library to make copies.
