Wireless access

If you visit us from an institution participating in eduroam, you can set up access to eduroam on wireless devices. Preferably, please do this before arriving at Glasgow. Your devices will then connect automatically to the network at the University of Glasgow.

Visits less than 4 weeks

To provide you with guest access to the university's WiFi network and Moodle, your sponsor should contact local IT staff to request a short- term guest access account.  Ideally, this should be done at least one week in advance of your arrival.

To provide you with guest access to WiFi only, your sponsor, a University of Glasgow employee, can create an account for up to 7 days on the MyGlasgow staff portal (login with GUID).

If you require access to the Library, you will need the school, institute or service hosting you to issue a letter of authorisation.

Visits longer than 4 weeks

If you require the use of the University I.T. Services, and plan to stay for longer than 4 weeks, you will need to register for affiliate status. The registration form for Affiliate Status is available here: Honorary/Visiting/Affiliate Status Registration Form.

When registering for Affiliate status, please also register for a GUID.  For information on how to register, please follow the instructions on the GUID registration webpage. This will facilitate the provision of an ID card, which enables access to corporate IT and wider campus facilities, including the Library. This will give you access to selected electronic resources, specialist advice from College librarians, and research rooms.
