Getting Started

Do I need to come to Glasgow for a Right to Work check?

There are three ways in which a Right to Work check can be performed, and this may depend upon your passport/nationality:

  • A manual Right to Work check (requires in-person attendance at the University)
  • A Right to Work check using a Digital Verification Service through an Identity Service Provider (only for British and Irish citizens who hold a current passport/passport card; can be completed remotely by video call)
  • A Home Office Online Right to Work check (only for non-British and non-Irish citizens; can be completed remotely by video call)

Following submission of your registration form, you will be contacted about completing a Right to Work check in the most appropriate way. You do not need to come to Glasgow for a Right to Work check unless you would prefer this to be performed manually rather than virtually.

If you would prefer to conduct your Right to Work check in person at the University, or you do not hold a current British or Irish passport, please contact the School associated with the courses/programmes in your remit to arrange this.

I am struggling to access Moodle — who should I contact?

Before you can be added by the School to the relevant Moodle pages, you will need to sign on to Moodle: https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/moodle/

If you are still experiencing issues with access and the School is unable to resolve them, please contact the IT Helpdesk: https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/it/helpdesk/

Please note that some Schools will not provide course information or work samples via Moodle. You should confirm the arrangements for accessing these with the appropriate School.

When will I receive work samples and Board of Examiners meeting dates?

Please liaise with the School regarding an anticipated timeline for assessments to be provided for scrutiny, work samples being provided in advance of the Board of Examiners, and the provisional meeting dates. The School will also be able to advise how documents will be shared with you and the number of samples you are likely to be provided with.
