Research Ethics website accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Research Ethics website.

Using this website

This website is run by The University of Glasgow.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website aren’t fully accessible:

  • Nested tables in some screens may not be read properly with screen reader software
  • Page numbers and previous/next buttons can’t be tabbed to and used with the keyboard

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

  • Nested tables may not read properly with screen readers (WCAG 1.3.2)
  • Page numbers and prev/next buttons can't be tabbed to and used with a keyboard (WCAG 2.1.1)
  • In screens where there are searchable lists, we are unable to add labels that will help assistive technology navigate these parts of the screens. (WCAG 4.1.2)

The website was developed using a framework that did not easily allow customisation of webpages for better accessibility. These issues, and general improvements on accessibility, will be revisited in a future release.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

Research Ethics is not currently under active, regular development and fixes are picked up on an as-needed basis. Future plans may involve a system rewrite with a focus on better accessibility, pending availability of resources.
