Please note: Police Registration was abolished 5 August 2022 and is no longer a requirement.
We have prepared an Orientation Video which covers useful information about living and studying in Glasgow.

Monday 9th January
International Student Support - Welcome Session
Time: 13:00 - 14:30 (UK)
In this session you will hear from our International Student Advisors about the fantastic support they offer on Visa and Immigration as well as details about how to book a one to one appointment with the team.
Tuesday 10th January
Accommodation Services - Q&A Drop-in (ZOOM)
Members of staff from Accommodation Services will be available for questions about your stay in residences. If you want to know how to pay your fees, have a burning question about how to do your laundry, how to report a maintenance issue or are looking for tips on where to buy a new pair of wellies (welcome to Glasgow) just drop in and ask!
The session will not be recorded. If you cannot make the session, you may find the answer on our webpage or in your residence guide

Wednesday 11th January
Introduction to Student Life
Time: 14:00 - 15:00 (UK)
Peer Wellbeing Supporters are student volunteers who are trained to hold space and listen to their peers share daily life problems and challenges. Some of the issues students share with us include loneliness, relationship worries, anxiety, exam concerns and coursework stress. No issue is too small.
The Residence Life team are current University of Glasgow staff who provide support to students living across all University of Glasgow Residences. They can support you with the practical, emotional and social aspects of moving to a new city and living in Halls of Residence and if we dont know the answer we can put you in touch with the person who does!
Thursday 12th January
Cultural Session: Halò, Hullo, Hello & Fàilte, Wylcome, Welcome

Join us for a special session which dives into Scottish Culture with local poet and cultural facilitator Katharine MacFarlane.
Scotland is famous for its warm hospitality in many languages and dialects! Join Katharine as we explore how to meet and greet people in Scottish Gaelic, Scots and Scottish English, discuss basic Scottish etiquette and share some stories about Scotland’s long tradition of welcoming visitors.
Friday 13th January
Glasgow Street Art Tour
Time: 14:00 - 15:30
Organised by Walking Tours in Glasgow & UofG: come and explore a different side to Glasgow with your local, fun guide - for free!
On this 1.5 hour walk there’s no cathedrals, grand buildings or monuments, you will experience the real Glasgow. You’ll meander down alleys and under bridges to uncover some of the city’s most beautiful pieces of art that are taking over the walls by storm.

Monday 16th January
CULTURAL WORKSHOP: A Year in Scotland

International Student Support are running a fun and interactive Scottish Cultural Workshop. Our ISS Advisers will take you through a year's calendar of events which are traditionally celebrated in Scotland. This will be a chance for you to see, hear (and taste!) a bit of traditional Scottish culture!
Wednesday 18th January
ISS Welcome Coffee & Chat
Time: 15:00 - 18:00
The International Student Support Team welcomes you to drop by for an informal chat, and enjoy hot drinks and biscuits.
This is a great opportunity to ask questions, engage with fellow international students, and get out of the cold!
Friday 20th January
Glasgow City Centre Tour
Time: 10:00 - 11:30
Organised by Walking Tours in Glasgow & UofG: come and explore Glasgow City Centre with a fun, local guide - for free!
On this 1.5 hour tour, you'll not only see and learn about the key sites of the city centre, but also an authentic insight into modern life in the city today and hidden gems along the way.
