New Director for The Hunterian

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Steph Scholten as Director of The Hunterian at the University of Glasgow.

Steph ScholtenWe are delighted to announce the appointment of Steph Scholten as Director of The Hunterian at the University of Glasgow. Steph is currently Director of Heritage Collections at the University of Amsterdam. An art historian by background with an international reputation in cultural heritage and museum collections and over 25 years of experience in the cultural sector, Steph will provide overall leadership for The Hunterian when he takes up post on 1 August 2017.

David Duncan, Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary, commented: “Steph joins The Hunterian at a very exciting time – working with local and national partners, we have ambitious plans for the further development of the museum and art gallery. Steph’s leadership skills and proven expertise will be invaluable as we realise those plans”.

Steph Scholten said: “I very much look forward to working with colleagues at the University of Glasgow. The Hunterian is one of the finest university museums in the world and I am thrilled to have been appointed Director in succession to David Gaimster”.
