20 October 2021 - How to teach (almost) anything in Fablabs
The workshop will focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and the power of digital fabrication tools through hands-on learning to tackle societal challenges.
18 November 2021 - Interactive lectures: How to enhance student engagement during lectures
How can you facilitate and enhance student engagement during lectures? In this workshop for university lecturers we focus on how to encourage student activity and engagement during lectures in order to support students' learning.
22 November 2021 - Scaffolding language in the CLIL university classroom
This workshop will explore how effective language scaffolding can enhance the learning environment and acquisition of both language and content knowledge in CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and EMI (English Medium Instruction) teaching contexts.
26 November 2021 - Social Pedagogy and Democratic Education
The workshop is offered to trainers who aim to sustain a culture of democracy in education (formal and non- formal) in a sociο-pedagogical perspective by providing participants with the necessary methodological tools and competencies so that they may familiarise themselves with some issues of Social Pedagogy, such as the promotion of social inclusion, civic participation and tackling structural disadvantages which manifest and reproduce themselves in education.
29 November 2021 - Use your teaching time wisely
Based on theories of active learning and flipped classroom we inquire into and discuss the factors that can influence how we distribute course time between synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. The issues approached in the workshop are equally relevant for campus-based teaching as for online teaching.
06 December 2021 - Assessment for learning in the CLIL university classroom
This workshop will explore how effective assessment for learning can be put into place in CLIL teaching contexts (Content and Language Integrated Learning).

28-29 October: Virtual edition of the 4th Africa, Mediterranean and Europe Network (AMENET) international Conference on regional integration, hosted by the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. Go the event's website.
October-December: the Alliance of 4 Universities (A-4U) is launching its First Series of Debates entitled ‘Reshaping the Dialogue with Contemporary African Worlds. The sessions will be delivered in a blended format, and will bring together leading African and European scholars and researchers to debate on 4 key topics in the present and future of Africa:

In anticipation of the Global CIVIS Days 2021 in November 2021, the Université libre de Bruxelles invites members of the CIVIS community - students, researchers, academics and professional staff - to share their unique and renewed perspective on their home university.
Show the CIVIS community your favourite, strangest, or most unexpected angle of Glasgow university!
Staff and students are invited to join the photo competition and submit photographs showcasing the beauty, originality and/or strangeness of UofG.
The pictures may represent special or secret spots on campus, notable or curious decoration, or any other fantastic or funny view on campus and university spaces. The images can also show the university community interacting with the place and each other.
The selected photographs (up to 5 per university) will be part of the first CIVIS Exhibition. This will be unveiled as we launch the Global CIVIS days in Brussels on 24 November 2021 and will then travel among the 9 member universities.

Do you love generating creative ideas and solutions? Do you want to be part of an innovative and exciting social initiative shaping tomorrow’s Higher Education?
Then apply to join the CIVIS Creathon 2021!
The Creathon is open to staff and students, and will take place in Brussels during the Global CIVIS Days 2021 on 24-26 November, bringing together staff and students from 9 Europeans institutions.
If you are selected, you will work in a team of 4-5 participants from other CIVIS institutions to design innovative, feasible and inspiring solutions in answer to real-life challenges.

A travel grant will be awarded to selected candidates to travel to Brussels on 24-26 November.
