Glasgow Science Festival

Glasgow's Evolving, Thurs 3 to Sun 13 June 2027

Applications for Glasgow Science Festival 2027 are now open

As we move into the third decade of Glasgow Science Festival, we’ve been thinking about how things have grown and changed over the years. Which has inspired this year’s theme Glasgow’s Evolving.

Glasgow has reinvented itself so many times throughout the years. From a medieval bishopric to industrial powerhouse benefiting from the transatlantic slave trade to post-industrial decline. Now a city of culture, music, knowledge creation and innovation. How will we and the city continue to evolve?

We would love to explore some of those these with this year’s programme. Some possible inspiration for content:

  • What in your research field or area has had to change and adapt to keep up with the modern world, with e.g. climate, AI, health discoveries, technology?
  • How have humans, animals, environments evolved and adapted?
  • How has your own research path evolved over time?
  • How do we develop the connections with and between communities across Glasgow to ensure all needs and perspectives are considered?
  • How has public engagement evolved over time? In what ways has your practice changed or adapted to stay relevant and impactful?
  • How has or is the cityscape changed e.g. redesigning neighbourhoods and transport links
  • How are we utilising the river Clyde corridor and what will that look like in the future?
  • How are we changing and adapting as a city to local and global challenges e.g. climate change and net zero.

Our partners have a very broad research base, so as always, please don’t worry if you have a great idea that doesn’t fit with the theme. Not all our activities will, and we would still want to hear from you. GSF is a STEAMS festival, encompassing Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Mathematics and Social Science. Proposals from all fields are very welcome.

Find out more about this years plans, how to apply and the festival timeline in the GSF27 Content Proposal Info pack. Access the GSF27 Online Proposal Form using the link below.
