CELTIC CONNECTIONS X UOFG PRESENTS:
Trio Mágico
This event is part of Celtic Connections 2024 and is a special partnership with University of Glasgow's Music in the University programme. Bookings for this partnership series are made here through Eventbrite rather than through the central Celtic Connections booking system.
About Trio Mágico
Trio Mágico is led by award winning pianist Paul Harrison, who is joined by bassist Mario Caribe and drummer / percussionist Stuart Brown. These musicians came together through their passion for Brazilian music, and who have a special rapport from years of performing together in Scotland and internationally in various folk, world and jazz settings. Their performances focus on the music of Egberto Gismonti, which is like a microcosm of his native Brazil - diverse, joyful, and unique. One of the great legends of the country’s music, his tunes are freshed and presented in a new light - infectious rhythms of the world translated into vessels for inspiring jazz improvisation. At times romantic and film-score like, others introspective yet optimistic. There are carnival-like choro rhythms that will, literally, move you, and inspiring melodies that you may find yourself singing for a long time afterwards!
