Research

The Information Integrity Research Network at the University of Glasgow is delighted to host Dr Dani Madrid-Morales (Sheffield University) on 18 September.

Dani Madrid-Morales is a Lecturer in Journalism and Global Communication at the University of Sheffield. His research examines global political communication, with particular interests in state-sponsored international media, misinformation and disinformation, and the use of digital technologies in political communication. He co-leads Sheffield’s Disinformation, Information Integrity and Literacies Research Cluster.

Dr. Madrid-Morales' presentation will examine how Russian and Chinese state-sponsored international broadcasters narrate Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Drawing on a large corpus of RT, CGTN and France 24 video content across two periods (N = 12,500), Dr. Madrid-Morales and his co-authors, Ilya Yablokov (University of Sheffield) and Aybüke Atalay (University of Glasgow) combine computational methods with a closed reading of texts to assess convergence in strategic narratives.

Lunch will be served. Please register to attend the session.
