We are pleased to announce the launch of the Information Integrity Research Network at the University of Glasgow.

Misinformation, disinformation, conspiracy theories, and hate speech are increasingly promoted by authoritarian regimes, extremist actors, and profit-driven platforms. These developments undermine public trust, distort democratic processes, and—as seen during the Covid-19 pandemic—can have serious real-world consequences.

Addressing these challenges requires interdisciplinary insight. Our goal is to foster collaboration across disciplines and support new grant applications and impact-driven projects in this area. We plan to host a series of online and in-person events that will explore key debates, research methods, and opportunities for collaboration.

Our initial online meeting took place on 16 June at 1pm, during which we:

  • Presented our own research profiles
  • Outlined our plans for the coming year
  • Invited input and ideas for future activities
  • Offered participants a chance to introduce their own research interests and explore areas of collaboration

We look forward to building a vibrant research community around these pressing issues.
