UoG Winter Graduations 2018

Published: 4 December 2018

Here is a round up of graduations for Winter 2018

More than 4630 students graduated in a week of Winter 2018 graduation ceremonies at the University of Glasgow.

Among the highlights was the first UofG virtual graduation ceremony for three of our students; an assortment of kilts including the very well received Kente Kilt, made from traditional material from Ghana by Dr Gameli Tordzro from the School of Education to celebrate both his Ghanaian and Scottish homelands and of course we had the cuteness that is #TinyTeamUofG.

The social media team created videos each day, reaching more than 500,000 people through the social media activity.  Here are some of the highlights:

Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli - Principal and Vice Chancellor of UofG

Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, Vice Principal and Head of College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences

Professor Roibeard Ó Maolalaigh, Vice Principal and Head of the College of Arts

Professor Muffy Calder, Vice Principal and Head of the College of Science and Engineering

Professor Anne Anderson, Vice Principal and Head of the College of Social Sciences

Student Ambassadors

A big thank you to our student ambassadors who helped to make graduation day even more special for students and their families and friends. They were on hand at every ceremony to offer directions, advice and information and help make the event run a seamlessly as possible.

The students were first enlisted for the 2018 summer graduations by Amber Higgins, Senior Academic Policy Manager (Ceremonies). They were trained by the University's security team - Gary Stephen, Gerry Moore and John Shannon - with the aim of providing a customer focused service. They have proved to be a major asset for the 2018 graduations.
