Through My Flowers - Khabat Malarsheed (2021)

Saying now is the time
Here I can see
See you far away …
giving me your heart and soul...around the mountain and see.
This dedication amount to kurbani
To stay together for life ...looking to skies no longer clear….
Drawing climate change... A change in us

Don't let this go without seen.
..with golden words ...It's greeting nature ..your signature my dream.

To make our love behind imagination, Dancing under the rain
beginning the story of you and me
They told me in my country please don't cut the tree
Tell them don't throw plastic, broken glass on the ground
Our mother’s warning:
Don't waste time, discover me, for all one is worth

Enough wars on this land.
they drop destruction on the earth and carry the dress of death.
You are smile when it rains. When it floods you disappear. Where do you stand?
This is your choice: we can plant the seed.

As leaves on the wind’s wing,
Dreams and rhythm try to be
Between my shadow I settled  your words here
And a bucket of flowers for me.
As for the sea waves, my feelings will never compare.
All best things happen at sea -
It happens to everyone here.
This devotion I feel washing over me - kurbani.
As it happens the sadness overwhelms me
At the heart of my sentence I'm thinking how it can be
But like a hug of wrapping waves,
That pain will heal, so we can feel free
Beautiful eyes I can sail through and be free.

With a crown of hope I see
A mirror reflecting the past and beautiful dreams
Like a picture with thousands of words - an unending stream
Remember your love has taught me the
absence of fears. We can plant the flowers seed.

It is your mother nature holding you in adoration
Asking you to live better,
Touching your face with love through seasons
and always shining in spring.
Through climate change I can hear
Her warm welcome, voiced like the light shakes me.

Through My Flowers

Khabat Malarasheed born in Syria. Since her childhood she has been fascinated by nature, so she started to draw her world in words. Khabat has shared her poems at different festivals and events in her country. Her journey started when she was imagining the rain and hearing the sound of the wind, she felt pleasure and her pen started to write poetry. Since she has been in Glasgow, Khabat loves exploring the natural environment and has started to think of the ways in which we protect our environment. Her journey of immigrating from country to country, eventually to Glasgow has shown her the differences in the changing climates of countries. She wants to raise her voice and say that we all have a responsibility to protect the environment and the world together. For this exhibition Khabat is sharing her poem “Through My flowers”.

Khabat would like to thank her mentor Alibhe Harrison, a student at University of Glasgow, for all of her support.
