Dr Michael Scanlan

  • Lecturer (Political & International Studies)

Biography

I joined the School of Social and Political Sciences in 2021 and was awarded my PhD from the University of Glasgow in 2022. Prior to this, I worked in public relations and public affairs across a number of sectors including the European Parliament.

I am committed to public engagement and, in particular, encouraging younger people, especially from deprived areas, to study politics at Glasgow. I regularly visit schools to talk with Higher Politics and Higher Modern Studies students and welcome invitations from schools across Central Scotland.

I have a wider variety of teaching responsibilities including the widening participation summer school, pre-honours Politics and honours Politics and seek to guide students through the complexities of the subject and help them towards a life-long love of the study of politics.
