Biography
I am a Research Associate In Urban Studies, working on the £3.4 million UKRI-funded project 'Protecting Minoritised Ethnic Communities Online' (PRIME). I co-lead on a work package for PRIME, bringing together stakeholders from communities, third sector organisations, researchers and policy leads across England and Scotland, to exchange knowledge and co-design solutions to ethnicity related bias and digital discrimination in AI and digital services.
I am part of a steering group on public voices in responsible AI research and practice, led by Ada Lovelace Institute, Alan Turing Institute, the ESRC Digital Good Network and RAI UK. In 2023 I presented on a panel dicusssing racial justice and AI at the Scottish AI Summit.
I completed my ESRC funded PhD in Education at the University of Sheffield. I have a MA in Social Research and a MA in International Development, funded by the University of Sheffield's Benefactors Scholarship.
I have previously worked on research and evaluation projects focused on widening participation in Higher Education and post-16 transitions, in addition to key issues in vocational education and learning while working for the Edge Foundation.
My research experience and interests align to themes of critical pedagogy, social justice and participatory or 'research-in-practice' methodologies.
