Stephen Sambrook joined the Centre as a full-time researcher on 1 July 2006. He worked on the ESRC funded project "Constructing the Waste Management Business in the United Kingdom and West Germany, 1945 to the early 1990s" under the direction of Professor Ray Stokes, together with Roman Koester. His own research on the evolution of the British optical industry’s involvement with the armed forces resulted in the publication of the monograph “The Optical Munitions Industry in Great Britain, 1888-1923” in 2014. Stephen studied at the University of York before taking his PhD at the University of Glasgow. He retired at the end of 2014. Further Details.
