Many congratulations to our Head of Sociology, Professor Les Back, who has received The British Sociological Association (BSA) Lifetime Achievement Award 2022!
This prestigious award is an honour given to individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of sociology over their career.
On receiving his award, Les said: "I have always been deeply grateful to sociology providing an intellectual home for the things I care about. This award was really unexpected and surprising because I still feel I am trying to do my best work. Feels to me that in the political climate of our times, sociology as a listener's art and sociable science is more important than ever. I see that reflected everyday in the work of my colleagues here at Glasgow."
