Congratulations to Dr Susan Deeley (Urban Studies) on winning a University of Glasgow Teaching Excellence Award.

Many congratulations to Dr Susan Deeley (Urban Studies) on winning a University of Glasgow Teaching Excellence Award. This is great recognition for her expertise and contribution.

Informed by her practitioner research, Susan has designed and introduced innovative and effective approaches to teaching, in particular to curriculum design, enquiry based learning and assessment methods that aim to facilitate students' active and deep learning. She has also created opportunities for students to enhance their employability skills and graduate attributes through service-learning, which is a non-traditional pedagogy based on experiential learning theory. Susan’s service-learning courses, for home and international students, encompass a democratic and deep approach to learning that involves students’ engagement in voluntary work in the local community in combination with associated academic coursework.

Susan's award will be presented to her at one of the forthcoming Graduation Ceremonies.
