Life after my Master’s at the University of Glasgow’s School of Social & Political Sciences

Samantha Whitmore, graduate of MSc Criminology & Criminal Justice
I am currently working as a case manager with Vermonters for Criminal Justice Reform in Vermont, USA.
This role operates out of VCJR's recovery and re-entry center in downtown Burlington, Vermont. The recovery and re-entry center is a low-barrier space that supports individuals with current or historical substance use disorder, current or historical justice-involvement, and a need for services. Case management involves coordinating with other service providers regarding housing and other service needs, transportation to and from appointments/treatment centers, accessing social services, basic needs support, syringe exchange services, support for court cases, and support for probation/parole appointments.
I stayed in Glasgow until graduation in December, and then began this position at the beginning of January! It has been a challenging, but rewarding, few months!
