Hannah's Story

Hannah started her journey at another university at a busy city campus where she completed her first year of study, but she quickly realised that she wanted a different student experience. Attracted by a more community-focused learning environment, Hannah joined the programme as a first year in 2019 and was delighted with the smaller class sizes and the opportunity to build strong connections with her peers and lecturers – something she had not been able to find elsewhere.

During her time with the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, Hannah has been able to undertake a variety of different courses, including some from different degrees that are also studied on campus, such as End of Life Studies, Global Environmental Issues and Philosophy.

“The courses really opened my eyes to topics I’d never done before or even really thought about. There’s just so many options. You can explore the breadth of the degree, especially first and second year, and then begin to specialise in what you’re most interested in. It’s a really great opportunity.”

With Hannah approaching her final year on the programme, she’s beginning to focus on her future career path. One of the things that attracted her to this programme was the range of choice and opportunity that’s on offer, with graduates going on to a variety of careers and sectors;

“I feel like there’s just so many career pathways to explore from this degree. I’m still not sure what I want to do when I graduate but I’m really interested in social prescribing and think that may be a career path for me”
