Background
I joined the University of Glasgow as a Lecturer in Psychology in November 2023, contributing to the teaching of Level 1 and Level 2 undergraduate modules, and supervising postgraduate students in the MSc Psychological Science programme.
Prior to that, I was a Lecturer in Psychology at Solent University and the University of Liverpool where I taught a range of modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across the British Psychological Society (BPS) curriculum including Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, Social Psychology, Individual Differences, Cognitive Psychology, and Developmental Psychology.
Before getting these lectureships, I worked as a Postgraduate Demonstrator at Newcastle University and a Subject Teacher at INTO University of East Anglia where I taught several modules to foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate students in the programmes of Psychology, Applied Linguistics, Cross-cultural Communication, Biology, and Social Sciences and Humanities. I also worked on two research projects as a Research Associate at Newcastle University and University of East Anglia, respectively.
In Vietnam, I was a Lecturer at Ton Duc Thang University and co-founded an educational startup.
I completed my PhD research exploring the learning journeys of being critical thinkers at Newcastle University, where I also obtained a PgCert in Research Training and an MA with Distinction. I completed my first degree at Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
Professional activities
I am an editorial board member (Associate Editor) of the Springer Nature journal - Humanities and Social Sciences Communications.
I am an active reviewer for some journals such as SAGE Open, Asia Pacific Journal of Education, The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher, International Journal of Educational Management, and Journal of Teaching and Learning Practice.
Research interests
My research interests lie primarily in thinking skills, social psychology, cross-cultural psychology, psychology of bilingualism and multilingualism, and pedagogy, using an array of quantitative and qualitative methods.
My ongoing projects focus on doctoral students' wellbeing, STEM stereotypes and identity construction, critical thinking development, international students' psychological and sociocultural transition, curriculum decolonisation, and sustainable development goals (SDGs) in higher education (e.g., SDGs 3, 4, 5, and 10).
