3.5-year PhD Studentship
We are currenly seeking PhD applications for a 3.5 year PhD studentship, starting from 1st October 2019. The position is fully funded and is open to a well-qualified student from the UK and potentially also those from elsewhere in the EU.
The selected student will undertake a research project in one of the research areas of the Quantum Theory Group. They will receive postgraduate teaching and skills training as part of the SUPA (Scottish Universities Physics Alliance) partnership, as well as cutting-edge research training in quantum theory. Financial support is available for presenting results at national and international conferences.
The Quantum Theory Group sits within the School and covers diverse research topics including quantum information, quantum optics, optical and electron vortices, optical forces, quantum thermodynamics and chiral matter and its interaction with light.
EU and UK nationals with a first class masters degree in physics or physics and mathematics. Students holding exceptional first class bachelors degrees will also be considered.
The studentship covers all tuition fees, and a tax-free stipend at the standard UKRI rate, which for this year is £14,777 pa.
31st March 2019 to start from 1st October 2019.
