Raquel Martínez Martín analyses how post-2008 films adopt visual (im)mobility to highlight the paralysing effects of long-term unemployment in Spain. This presentation discusses the way in which As Luck Would Have It (Álex de la Iglesia, 2011) visually reproduces the associations between el paro (unemployment) and the paralysed body of the protagonist in the post-crisis context of recession and austerity.
