Stephen Parkinson will be discussing text-image connexions in the Cantigas de Santa Maria, a Galician-Portuguese Medieval song book about the Virgin Mary, written by Alfonso X, king of Castille (1221-1284)

Professor Stephen Parkinson is Emeritus Fellow of Linacre College and Honorary Faculty Research Fellow of the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages (University of Oxford). He is PI of the Centre for the Study of the Cantigas de Santa Maria at the University of Oxford, which includes an annotated critical edition of the cantigas in Oxford Cantigas de Santa Maria Database.
