2025 Glasgow Paediatric Research Day Report
The 16th Glasgow Paediatric Research day was held on Friday 7th November 2025 at the Queen Elizabeth Teaching and Learning Centre. The programme included 18 excellent short oral presentations and 22 posters.
The invited speakers' plenary session was hosted by Dr Ross Ross Langley, Consultant Paediatric Respiratory Physician and co-chaired by Dr Neil Gibson and Dr Phil Davies. The session featured presentations from UK guest speakers, Professor Andrew Bush, Imperial College London and Dr Ian Sinha, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool.
Short Oral Communication prizes
- 1st prize awarded to Patawee Asamaphan, MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research, for the presentation, "High-magnitude anti-AAV2 CD8+ Rep responses are associated with hepatitis in children"
- Runner-up prize awarded to Charlotte Murphy, School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health, University of Glasgow, for the presentation, "Examining the localisation and uptake of placental extracellular vesicles in vitro and in vivo"
Poster prizes
- 1st prize awarded to Jonathan Lang, The University of Edinburgh Medical School, for the poster "Restrictive RV physiology early after Tetralogy of Fallot repair – prevalence in contemporary era and impact on outcome"
- Runner-up prize awarded to Dr Hannah Vennard, The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, for her poster "A diagnostic feasibility study of a novel accelerometer-based chest sensor in neonatal respiratory monitoring"
CPD
RCPCH approved the event in accordance with RCPCH CPD Guidelines with certificates of attendance issued on completion of a short webropol feedback survey.
