Strategic Goals
- Curriculum Informed by BIG Needs: To advise on the School'sundergraduate and postgraduate programmes (postgraduate taught and postgraduate research) in Statistics and Mathematics and to reflect the latest business, industry and Government/public sector trends and requirements, enhancing graduate skills and employability while also helping BIG Board members shape the future talent pipeline.
- Enhancement of Research Impact: Promote research initiatives that address real-world challenges, facilitating collaborations that lead to tangible outcomes, societal benefits, and direct value for BIG partners.
- Expansion of Partnerships: Develop and strengthen relationships with a broad spectrum of industries, businesses and the government sector, to create pathways for both School and BIG Board members to benefit from shared expertise and innovation.
- Support for Student Development: Provide students with placements, mentorship, training opportunities, and participation in real-world projects, while giving BIG Board members early access to emerging talent and fresh perspectives.
- Strategic Funding and Collaboration Opportunities: To assist in the identification and development of research and funding opportunities in the industrial, commercial and government spheres at all levels, including projects that can support the needs of all partners, and funding for postgraduate research students.
- Promotion of Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Encourage and support initiatives that lead to the commercialisation of research, including spin-offs and start-ups, creating mutual benefit through knowledge transfer, collaboration, and potential co-investment opportunities. This will be pursued in partnership with relevant University of Glasgow units.
- Continuous Professional Development: Offer opportunities for BIG professionals to engage in lifelong learning through workshops, seminars, and collaborative research, ensuring ongoing mutual growth and development.
