Some details of our staff activities
Dr Dimitra Kosta’s work linking statistics, evolutionary biology and algebraic geometry has been published online in a special issue of the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology entitled Algebraic Methods in Phylogenetics. The title of the paper is “Maximum Likelihood Estimation of Symmetric Group-Based Models via Numerical Algebraic Geometry” and can be found online at https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11538-018-0523-2.
SofTMech Grant Success
SofTMech (Prof Xiaoyu Luo - PI, Prof Ray Ogden, Dr Hao Gao and Prof Colin Berry) have secured a three-year EPSRC grant of £387,321, 2019-2022 (EP/S014284/1), on "Growth and Remodelling in the Porcine Heart - Pushing Mathematics through Experiments". This is a Glasgow lead multi-institutional project with Cardiff (EP/S014195/1 led by Theobald) and Swansea (EP/S014306/1 led by Khan).
