Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I fund my law degree? Is there any financial assistance available?

A: Although the Student Awards Agency Scotland does not make awards for second undergraduate degrees, financial assistance may be available to help you undertake your studies.  Many of our students fund themselves with Career Development Loans available through a number of banks. Students may also qualify for support from other sources and information can be found on the relevant pages of the Registry website: http://www.gla.ac.uk/services/registry/finance/

It may also be worthwhile consulting the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland (if you are of Scottish birth or extraction, or have had at least two years' secondary education in Scotland). Two publications may provide further guidance: The Directory of Grant-Making Trusts, published by The Charity Aid Foundation, and the Grants Register published by Macmillan Press.  Both are available for consultation in the University Library and in public reference libraries.

A small payment is typically made to all graduate students undertaking the 2 year (graduate entry) LLB from the College's 'Second First Degree Bursary Fund'.  The exact sum cannot be guaranteed, but in the past monies have been in the region of £500 per student per annum.
