Information for Visiting

Welcome to the Law Workshop

We are delighted to welcome new and returning students back to our Law Workshop. The Law Workshop is a study space and resource centre for law students and staff. There is a wide variety of textbooks, law reports, journals, and periodicals to help you with your studies. The Workshop is also equipped with printing facilities.

Location:

Entrance to the Workshop is in the basement of 8 Professors’ Square. We also have an accessible ground floor entrance at the rear of 8 Professors' Square for anyone with mobility needs.

Opening hours:

We have extended our opening hours to 9.15-4.45, Mon-Fri, during term time.

Study Space:

We have quiet study spaces for available law students, as well as a separate group room for class discussions.

If you are using a study space, you can also browse the bookshelves and check out high demand books using our self-service machine.

Please consult the member of staff available if you wish to borrow any of our other items.

Book Borrowing:

Due to temporarily limited space in the Workshop, if you need a specific book and do not intend to use our study space, please email law-workshop@glasgow.ac.uk in advance. We will then locate the book and have it ready for you to collect.

All our books are searchable on the University Library’s online catalogue.

We also have a wide selection of eBooks and online journals. Guides on finding eBooks are available here.

Keeping Safe:

The health and safety of our community is our top priority. We are closely observing Scottish Government and University of Glasgow guidance and principles. Plans may change if guidance is updated.

From 18 April there is no longer any requirement to wear face coverings in public places in Scotland, this includes our Libraries and study spaces. We do encourage staff and students to wear face coverings at particularly busy times, and we ask everyone to be sensitive to the needs of others who prefer to continue wearing face coverings.

Please email law-workshop@glasgow.ac.uk if you have any questions.
