We are proud to announce that the Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland (ERCS) has published a new public legal education resource developed by students from last year’s Environmental Justice Clinic.
The “Guide to Greenwashing”, now available on the ERCS website, was researched and written by our clinic students in collaboration with ERCS. It offers a clear, accessible introduction to greenwashing including: what it is, why it matters, and how individuals and communities can identify and challenge misleading environmental claims.
About the Guide
The guide explains how greenwashing undermines environmental protection and consumer trust, and it outlines the legal tools available to hold companies accountable. It is designed to empower the public, campaigners, and community groups with the knowledge to spot and respond to greenwashing in Scotland.
A Collaborative Effort
This publication is the result of a year-long collaboration between ERCS and the Environmental Justice Clinic students. Under the supervision of academic staff and in partnership with ERCS, students conducted legal research, analysed case studies, and developed practical guidance to support environmental rights in Scotland.
Celebrating Student Impact
We are delighted to see our students’ work making a tangible contribution to public legal education and environmental justice. Their efforts exemplify the core mission of the Clinic - to combine rigorous legal education with meaningful, real-world impact.
We extend our sincere thanks to ERCS for their continued partnership and support, and we congratulate our students on this significant achievement.
