Rebecca Mason - Women, marriage and Law in Scotland

On this episode Dr Alan Brown is joined by Dr Rebecca Mason, an ESRC post-doctoral fellow in the School of Law. Dr Mason talks about her fellowship project: ‘Women, Marriage and Law in Scotland: Historical and Legal Perspectives’.

Dr Mason discusses her research into women’s engagement with the court system in early modern Scotland, the different perspective of a gender historian researching law and the legal system, and the potential significance of her historical research on contemporary debates regarding law reform in Scotland.
