OBEs awarded to two Institute scientists

We were thrilled to learn that two Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation colleagues have been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list, published this past Friday.

We were thrilled to learn that two Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation colleagues have been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list, published this past Friday.

Professor Mike Barrett, iii Professor of Biochemical Parasitology and Laboratory Director at the Lighthouse Laboratory in Glasgow, is to receive an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Professor Massimo Palmarini, Director of our Centre for Virus Research, was named in the list of honorary awards to foreign nationals and will receive an honorary OBE, Civil Division, for services to Public Health.
