These awards recognise and celebrate members of staff whose teaching and contribution to learning is of a particularly high standard.

The Global Mental Health (GMH) Team includes:

  • Julie Langan Martin
  • Laura Sharp
  • Dimitar Karadzhov
  • Amanda Smith
  • Laura McNaughton
  • Julien Le Jeune D’Allegeershecque, and
  • Matthew Weldon

Over the past four years, both GMH programmes (online distance learning and on-campus) have been transformed to ensure that the learning and teaching materials are constructively aligned, fully accessible, flexible, authentic and technology enhanced. We as a team have been innovative in our approach to teaching and scholarship, by, for example, embedding self-care within course design as well as the introduction of authentic assessments. This iterative process has been possible due to the hard work and commitment of each individual member of the inter-disciplinary team.

Student feedback has been key to enriching the quality of the learning materials developed and regular student evaluation and feedback projects have been undertaken. The results of these projects have been fed forward into ongoing course and programme development.

Dr Julie Langan Martin (Programme Lead) said:

"We as a team continuously strive to deliver innovative teaching material to enhance the student learning experience. This practice has continued despite the challenges of COVID, home working, home schooling and NHS redeployment. I am extremely grateful to Laura, Dimitar, Amanda, Laura McN, Julien and Matthew for their hard work and dedication to programme. I am delighted that the outstanding contributions that each and every one brings to the teaching programmes and IHW has been formally recognised in this way."
