Monday 19 October, 2-4pm. Come and find out what it means to be involved in research. A free coffee afternoon open to anyone with a long-term health condition or caring for someone with one. Experience of receiving formal care at home is particularly welcome. Hear from Steve, a patient advocate and cancer survivor. He'll talk honestly about living life with advanced cancer, what helping to guide health research is really like, and why your experience matters.

Do you have a long-term health condition? Do you receive care services or provide care? Come and find out about being involved in research.
Come and find out what it really means to be involved in health research.
We are a research team from the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow studying the costs of care for people living with long-term health conditions in Scotland. We want to make sure our research reflects what matters to real people — and that means hearing from people like you.
What to expect:
We are hosting a relaxed coffee afternoon at Byres Community Hub in Glasgow where you can:
- Hear from Steve, a patient advocate and cancer survivor, who will talk honestly about his experience of being involved in health research and why it has been meaningful to him
- Find out more about our research study and what it involves
- Ask questions in a friendly, informal setting
- Find out about opportunities to get more involved going forward as part of our Patient and Public Involvement Group
Who is this for?
Anyone with a long-term health condition, or who cares for someone with one, is welcome. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience of receiving care at home.
Practical details:
- Free to attend
- Coffee, tea and biscuits provided
- Travel expenses reimbursed
- Monday 19 October, 2-4pm
- Byres Community Hub, Clarice Pears Building, 90 Byres Road, Glasgow, G12 8TB
